Description
"Antique Fire Hose Reel" by Thom Zehrfeld
Welcome to my fine art photography site! This is an antique fire hose reel from Historic Willamette, Oregon which is incorporated with West Linn, just south of Portland.
The reel sits next to a fire station and has been restored to look like new. Way back in 1673, the first practical fire hose was invented in Holland.
It consisted of 50-foot lengths of leather and was sewn together. One has to assume they had to put on some type of fire hose reel.
I doubt that the image shown goes back to the 17th century however, it's a good bet it goes back to the 1800's or early nineteen hundreds.
This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color, and then incorporating a unique painted effect
