"Pagoda and Koi!" by Thom Zehrfeld
The setting is the Japanese Gardens in Portland (PDX), Oregon! They represent the most authentic Japanese gardens outside of Japan.
This is the Koi pond, falls (to the left) and, of course the Pagoda which protrudes into the water. Koi are Nishikigoi. They are a variety of common carp.
However, they are a decorative species and quite domesticated. The Japanese Gardens in Portland is a superb spot to observe the Koi in a serene setting!
The Gardens occupy some five and and half acres of traditional Japanese gardens. Although, when you are in the gardens, it seems like it is twice that.
This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color, and then incorporating a unique painted effect.

Thom Zehrfeld lives in Newport, Oregon on the Central Coast and, is fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon!
