"Bay Front Crab Buoys" by Thom Zehrfeld
A seafood restaurant On the Historic Bayfront in Newport, Oregon that is highly decorated in every kind of nautical apparatus you can think off.
In this particular capture, only a portion of those items show up in the form of crab buoys. Note the numbers on the buoys.
Hundreds of crabbers go out to sea, at the same time to set their crab rings at the bottom of the ocean. There is a rope attached to the crab ring and to the buoy.
The buoy floats marking where the ring is. The only way crabbers can tell who's rings belong to who is my registered numbers on the buoys.
This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color and then incorporating the results into a digital painting.
