Artist's Description

"1935 Auburn Boattail Speedster!" by Thom Zehrfeld

Along with the Cord Automobile, in the 1930's was another striking design and that was the Auburn Boattail Speedster.

It was powered by a 4.6 liter straight eight that, with a supercharger option could top 100 mph. Now days that may not be a big hoop-dee-doo but, in those days it was earth shattering!

This particular Auburn was featured many years ago at a Concours d'Elegance in Oregon. It is an absolutely gorgeous car.

This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color, and then incorporating a unique painted effect.

About Thom Zehrfeld

Thom Zehrfeld

Thom Zehrfeld lives in Newport, Oregon on the Central Coast and, is fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon! The ocean, the beach, the sea's fresh air naturally inspires his art! There is always something exciting to capture with a camera! However, it's not all seascapes...Thom likes capturing automobiles, trucks, motorcycles. And, he travels many places to do just that! He uses mostly color, adding textures and, lately has gone head first into digital painting...giving some photos a dimension that allows for a very unique look. Photography awards include the “McLoughlin Promenade” which is displayed at the Clackamas County Historical Museum in Oregon City. Also, he has won the Springbok National...
