Artist's Description

"1930 American Austin" by Thom Zehrfeld

American Austin Car Company was started in 1929 in Pennsylvania. They were licensed by the the British Austin Motor Company to build the Austin 7. A cool and nostalgic little car, aptly named the American Austin.

They had some success but the Depression set in, sales were way off and production was suspended. In 1934 the company filed for bankruptcy.

This particular automobile is a Robin's Egg blue and matches the plane next to it.

This image has been converted to High Dynamic Range (HDR) by combining three different exposures to give the image more detail and color.

About Thom Zehrfeld

Thom Zehrfeld

Thom Zehrfeld lives in Newport, Oregon on the Central Coast and, is fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon! The ocean, the beach, the sea's fresh air naturally inspires his art! There is always something exciting to capture with a camera! However, it's not all seascapes...Thom likes capturing automobiles, trucks, motorcycles. And, he travels many places to do just that! He uses mostly color, adding textures and, lately has gone head first into digital painting...giving some photos a dimension that allows for a very unique look. Photography awards include the “McLoughlin Promenade” which is displayed at the Clackamas County Historical Museum in Oregon City. Also, he has won the Springbok National...
