Hi! I'm Thom Zehrfeld and welcome to my fine art photography site! I live in Newport, Oregon on the Central Coast. I am fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful spots in Oregon!
The ocean, the beach, the sea's fresh air naturally inspires my art! There is always something exiting to capture with my camera!
However, it's not all seascapes...my portfolio varies immensely, like capturing cool automobiles and, interesting architecture and landscapes. I use mostly color, add textures and, lately I have gone head first into digital painting giving my photos a dimension that allows for a very unique look. I will admit that I am a maverick! I don't copy what other artist are doing...I strive to be different!
Photography experience started with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was in the Marine Corps...way back when. I since have graduated to more sophisticated cameras.
Yes, I have won awards for my photography! I have something called “McLoughlin Promenade” hanging in the Clackamas County Historical Museum. Also, I have won the Springbok National Photography Contest three years in a row.
Personal Exhibitions have been through the Sunnyside Medical Center and the Clackamas County Main Campus! Also, I am in several galleries on the coast.
Education: Lewis and Clark College and Newspace School of Photography
